How do you afford to travel full-time???

How do you afford to travel full-time? This is the #1 question our followers generally have. Of course this is a natural question and one we ourselves had for those already living out this lifestyle of location independence when we first started on this adventure.

Before I jump right in and answer this question… Let me give you a little background of where we started…

When we decided we wanted to travel full-time with our boys, Jeremy was working in the automotive industry as a master technician. While this job allowed us to pay our bills monthly it was definitely NOT a location independent job! As we talked more and more about this “Dream” we realized that Jeremy was going to have to change careers if we were ever going to acquire the ability to be location independent.

Making this change initially did not seem as difficult as it would eventually turn out to be… it wasn’t until we were about 5 months into our initial 6 month deadline (can you say “in denial”) that we realized Jeremy was going to have to go back to school in order to get a stable remote job that would allow him to both work remotely and fully support our growing family.

We are aware that there are jobs out there that do not require a specific degree in order to work from home.

Soo… How on earth DO we afford to travel full-time???

This will always be a work in progress for us… we are constantly searching for and open to new income streams. The streams of income we have had during our time on the road include:

Solar Consultations and Installations

We are so excited that we have officially started our own mobile solar consultation and installation company! This piece of the puzzle has been a long time coming! We have been wanting to start our own company ever since Jeremy completed our first solar install on our highway trailer. It has been amazing to see how God has worked to make this dream a reality and we are so excited to see where it is going to take us!

Jeremy’s Remote Jobs/Contracts

Jeremy has worked a couple of different remote jobs during our time on the road. He has worked as a remote customer service agent all the way up to a COO (Chief Operations Officer) of a start-up tech firm. This was a big piece of our income during the first few years of being on the road and is what made this lifestyle possible for us to begin! We are very thankful for the opportunities we had open up to us because of these jobs!

Work Camping Positions

We have recently started reaching out to campgrounds and summer camps to help them in areas they could use some extra help. This is something we have really enjoyed getting into and exploring more! If you are a campground looking for volunteers/workampers, feel free to reach out! We would love to chat and find out if we would be a good fit for your destination!

Business Partnerships

We love having the opportunity to share destinations, brands, and companies that we use and trust with you! Sometimes we are paid by these destinations, brands, and companies to create content for them! If we do post any of this content on our own social media platforms we make sure to let you know that the content is an AD for that destination, brand, or company. Just know that we would never share a destination, brand, or company with you that we would not be willing to spend our own money on!

Affiliate Partners

We have many Affiliate Partners that we have worked with and continue to work with! You may already have unknowingly contributed to our monthly income just by following along on our adventures and having an interest in the products we use. Using any of our affiliate links means, we can receive a commission off of any sales made from the product links we put on Instagram, in our YouTube video descriptions, and here on our Website without costing any of our followers a dime!

Using our affiliate links is a great way to help support our family and allows us to keep providing family-friendly content!
